What Wisconsin needs…

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker retained his governorship Tuesday night, in a race that was a referendum on Walker's decision to take on the public employee unions. I feel there will be no total victory in this era – only gains and losses. Many people are torn from this and I hope it doesn't change Wisconsin's fun-loving reputation.

A study done in the later 90's, by researchers at Cambridge University, proved that Wisconsinites ranked in the top 5 states with the best personalities. It stated the people are friendly, social and compassionate.

Compassionate…that's a word to think about at this time. In a time of financial stress, everyone has had to make or be forced to make some terrible decisions. And all to often, compassion is forgotten about – the true desire to alleviate or reduce someone's suffering. Walker's victory could show as an in-compassionate decision for the Wisconsin people and perhaps change their minds and attitudes. My thought is, will it end?

Then I had a chance to meet with a local business owner that gave me hope and an answer to all this madness. They talked how proud they were to produce and sell only American made products. They were happy to be a small solution to such a large problem. They didn't worry about getting things cheaper from China or Mexico. They were more concerned about quality and the well-being of the American people. Why don't more business owners have this kind of compassion? Why don't more consumers have this kind of compassion? We all know someone that is out of a job or having money issues. Why don't we buy and demand more American made products? This is the answer for Wisconsin, as well as America. We NEED to buy America back! Bring the products back to America and we will have more jobs for people and more people to spend money. Then maybe we won't enter into a childish political era that will be filled with many contests like the war over collective bargaining.

I'm happy the company PHG Technologies opened my eyes wider. With faith in the air, I hope people start to see Wisconsin, and other states, need more local businesses like this one. Businesses with true compassion and action to show it.
