Cloud Computing - Simplified

Cloud Computing - A simplified version for friends and family

It is taking information and sharing it with other computers (or servers) over a network (the Internet). Here is a simple outline below:

Now that you know it’s only sharing and storing information to another computer/server (the cloud), lets go onto software (or apps) that makes it possible to receive and retrieve your information from that computer/server/cloud.

APPS for Cloud Computing:

Evernote: you can make notes and share it with your other devices. Example - you make a to-do-list on your computer and it automatically saves it to the computer/server/cloud so that you can have that same information with you (on your smart phone) when you are out running errands.  Now in order to do that you need to save the app onto you phone, computer, tablet, ect. Here is the link to evernote. http://www.evernote.com/

Google Docs:  This is a word document, slideshow or spreadsheet that allows you to input information and then allows you to work on it at any computer, or device. I highly recommend this for students! It automatically saves - no excuses that you lost your information when the power went out.

Read it Later: This is great for those times when you want to read an article online, but time does not allow it. Here is the link: http://readitlaterlist.com/

There are a lot more apps out there, but I kept it simple for now. I hope this helps.
